TAG PACKAGES E! OSCAR COVERAGE

TAG takes a walk down the red carpet
with E! Entertainment Television

Los Angeles, May 6, 2002 - Creative brand solutions company TAG took a walk down the red carpet with E! Entertainment Television in creating the on-air packaging for the network's annual Academy Awards pre-show and post-show broadcasts.

Designed by TAG creative director Alan Douglas under the creative direction of E! vice president, senior executive creative director Jill Taffet, the on-air package for E!'s coverage included three shows: "Road To The Red Carpet," featuring Nicole Kidman, Denzel Washington, Russel Crowe and Halle Berry, "Live Countdown: Academy Awards" and "Live Post Show."

No stranger to awards shows, E!'s Oscar coverage was a perfect match for TAG's Douglas, who previously designed the on-air packaging for the 51st Annual Emmy Awards show for FOX in 1999, while he was at Pittard Sullivan. "The Oscars are the pinnacle of the motion picture industry's honors, and no network is more consistently synonymous with this ideal than E! Entertainment," remarked Douglas. "This package conveyed the glamour and excitement of Hollywood's grandest event."

In order to capture the excitement of the live event, Douglas used three-dimensional film strip animation and filmic light effects to create an environment that allowed for each of the nominees to be showcased days prior and during promotional lead-ins to the broadcast.

In addition to Douglas, TAG producer Toby Keil worked hand-in-hand with E! executive producer Ann Epstein Cohen in producing the broadcast's contemporary 2002 look.

The live broadcast of the 2002 Academy Awards pre-show event, which aired March 24, was hosted by Joan and Melissa Rivers and garnered the highest ratings in the network's history
